RISING is a new major artwork created by Brokentalkers and Algorithm, commissioned by Dublin Theatre Festival and supported by Brokentalker’s artist in residency at Trinity College Dublin and Creative Ireland in Dublin City Council.
BRIEF
As part of a commission by Dublin Theatre Festival, Trinity College Dublin and Creative Ireland, we collaborated with Brokentalkers on a sustainable one of a kind audio-visual installation to engage the local community about the Climate Crisis.
THE IDEA
The concept of RISING at DTF was to develop a temporary visual installation and audio performance exploring the often-overwhelming topic of climate change from the point of view of a young Dubliner living close to the water. Installed on the Liffey Quays the production explores the impact of local, human scale, grassroots engagement and responses to climate change and climate action.
RESULT
Throughout the performance audiences used their own digital devices to listen to binaural audio experience designed by Folding Waves and performed by a local young Dubliner, Kym Delaney. Simultaneously a laser/light installation displayed a series of texts and animations. RISING brings the far away problem of the climate crisis right to our doorstep and calls upon the audience to take a stand to save our planet home. The entire production was run on sustainably charged lead acid battery generators .
